There are several ways to practice mindfulness and to better ourselves. It takes a lot of hard work and perseverance. Like any sport or competitive activity, there are skills you need to conquer to be an expert at it. If you are like me, you have two left feet and no hand-eye coordination, sports are not my forte. However, the “sport-like” thrust in my life is stress and anxiety. I have become a professional worry wort and an ace at anxiety. There are several things that I have tried to fix these feelings and help myself and I have finally found a way to detox my life. This may not help everyone, but I found it doesn’t hurt to try.
- Stay in the present moment
- There is no rule telling you to be doing a million things at once. Where is the handbook that states you have to worry about everything that has yet to happen.
- Don’t overanalyze the situation
- When you begin to analyze a situation, you create imaginary outcome. Your mind will begin to wonder and you will set every scary possibility as what is yet to come.
- Accept that there is only so much that can be done
- If there is one thing I have learned in life, its that you cannot control everything, There’s no time machine that can take you back to change what happened. Its not a bad thing.
- Trust in something bigger than yourself
- This lets you focus on your tasks. You let whatever it is to hold a portion of your responsibility while you do what needs to be done. You do not need to worry about the how. It is not up to you to worry about the details. Your life is in good hands.
- Find beauty in every moment, even the horrible ones
- Look for the lessons in life. There is beauty to not getting the job you wanted if you choose to find it. There is beauty in realizing that you don’t like a particular thing or a certain person. You need to be willing to be open to it. Beauty is everywhere.
You don’t have to dig into each of these life concepts all at the same time. Take on one at a time and see how it goes for you. My life is clearing up and I am worrying less. There are times that I feel defeated and losing track of myself, but I am becoming more mindful and at peace. Practice makes perfect.
