Practice

There are several ways to practice mindfulness and to better ourselves. It takes a lot of hard work and perseverance. Like any sport or competitive activity, there are skills you need to conquer to be an expert at it. If you are like me, you have two left feet and no hand-eye coordination, sports are not my forte. However, the “sport-like” thrust in my life is stress and anxiety. I have become a professional worry wort and an ace at anxiety. There are several things that I have tried to fix these feelings and help myself and I have finally found a way to detox my life. This may not help everyone, but I found it doesn’t hurt to try.

  1. Stay in the present moment
    • There is no rule telling you to be doing a million things at once. Where is the handbook that states you have to worry about everything that has yet to happen.
  2. Don’t overanalyze the situation
    • When you begin to analyze a situation, you create imaginary outcome. Your mind will begin to wonder and you will set every scary possibility as what is yet to come.
  3. Accept that there is only so much that can be done
    • If there is one thing I have learned in life, its that you cannot control everything, There’s no time machine that can take you back to change what happened. Its not a bad thing.
  4. Trust in something bigger than yourself
    • This lets you focus on your tasks. You let whatever it is to hold a portion of your responsibility while you do what needs to be done. You do not need to worry about the how. It is not up to you to worry about the details. Your life is in good hands.
  5. Find beauty in every moment, even the horrible ones
    • Look for the lessons in life. There is beauty to not getting the job you wanted if you choose to find it. There is beauty in realizing that you don’t like a particular thing or a certain person. You need to be willing to be open to it. Beauty is everywhere.

You don’t have to dig into each of these life concepts all at the same time. Take on one at a time and see how it goes for you. My life is clearing up and I am worrying less. There are times that I feel defeated and losing track of myself, but I am becoming more mindful and at peace. Practice makes perfect.

My Best

“I think too many times we wish to be better or to be the best at something, when we really need to think about how amazing we already are.

Comparing ourselves to others only gives us a false sense of who we should be. You have everything inside you to be the best at whatever you inspire to be. Don’t let anyone make you believe that you are not worthy or that you are not capable.

Focus your energy towards believing in yourself and creating the live you dream of. There is only one you, you are the best already.” -Anonymous

A friend of mine sent this to me the other day, because they wanted to “cheer” me up. Talking about me being the best I am and that I don’t need to listen to others, sure sounds easy. I rolled my eyes and said thanks. There is no easy way to put this, but….IT IS NOT THAT EASY! Reading a little note doesn’t make things better, and it definitely does not help me be my best. I am struggling with who I am and how I need to be living my life. No, I am not comparing myself to others or letting others determine who I should be. Its not others thats the problem, its me. Its who I believe I should be. Its who I should be. Its the person that I want to be for others. My best is whats suffocating me and making me feel this way. I have focused my energy in being my best and it only brought me to a dark place where it was hard to get out. So, just a thought, sorry for the rant.

New Chapter

sunset-day-summer-sky-90762Hello fellow writers,

This is my first time blogging, or writing anything really. My life has taken some wrong turns and twists and friends and family suggested to write it down. So….here I am. I am not sure how this works or if anyone is even reading these, but I am hoping this works.

To get to know me, I am from a small town in rural Kansas. I have always been close to my family and God. Growing up, I raised animals such as sheep, cattle, pigs, and chickens. Small town farm girl over here. My older sister has severe cerebral palsy and is my role model in life.

Through my short lived 22 years, there has been many accomplishments and reached goals. With that, there has also been some dark moments. Things got hard to deal with and I felt I had no one and no where to turn. I have come to realize that I am not alone and that there are people getting hurt by the distance I have been keeping them at. It is time for me to share with some one even if I do not know who. This is how my New Chapter in life is going to begin. I am going to begin to be honest not only to others, but more importantly, to myself.
